Dominating games and climbing the ladder in Overwatch becomes significantly easier with the help of aim training. How often do you hear yourself or your teammates say “they’re 1 shot” or “they’re 1 hp”? Imagine how differently your games would go if these crucial shots were hit and the kills were secured. Great aim creates constant value by snowballing fights, building more ultimates and subsequently winning games.

A flick is a swift aiming movement that is key to acquiring targets quickly and accurately, and to excelling with heroes like McCree. To demonstrate, here are some flicks with McCree.

The purpose of a flick is to mitigate the impact enemy movement has on your aim. It lets you take a snapshot in time of your crosshair position and the enemy position, and the quick flick can get your crosshair onto the target before enough time has elapsed for them to move a meaningful distance.

Tracking is a tricky skill to master, but one that is well worth the effort. We have some simple yet extremely potent tips and training methods that can take you to the next level today.

Focus on your target. There is a massive difference between looking at a target, and focusing on it. Think about looking into the spinning blades of a ceiling fan, you are looking at it, but it’s just a blur, if you really try you can focus on a single blade spinning around.

This direct focus locks you in and makes tracking a target significantly easier. A great way to isolate this feeling and to practice this skill is to play a KovaaKs scenario like “Ground Plaza Easy” or “Close Fast Strafes Invincible”. Performance between unfocused and focused play will be very noticeable.

Tracking becomes significantly easier when you understand the movement constraints of the enemy players. Reacting to an enemy can lead to panicky and errative aiming movements. Know that the enemy in front of you can only move along the ground, jump, or perform a hero specific movement such as Genji’s double jump or Pharah’s jump jet.

When you define and simplify their movements, you can trace the opponent with your crosshair. The mouse movements above seem simple enough to copy right? And they are in-game too, but the stress of the encounter and your own movement can make things seem far more complicated than they are.

As long as you can match the speed of an enemy with your crosshair, you can have perfect tracking with the right perception of their movement. Playing maps in KovaaK 2.0 like Midrange Longstrafes Invincible, Thin Gauntlet and Thin Aiming Invincible are great ways to train your ability to copy a target’s speed.

Overwatch Weapons Training

Any aim training you do will develop your mouse control, even if you have been focusing on tracking you can expect your projectile and flicks to also improve. That being said, you can still train for specificity to accelerate gains in your desired area.

If you are looking to master your aim with a particular hero in Overwatch, KovaaK’s Flick Trainer provides access to the relevant weapons in Overwatch with 1:1 physics. There are also scenarios in KovaaK’s Sandbox that have user generated weapon profiles and enemy AI designed to replicate Overwatch encounters.

A session of Overwatch comes with considerable downtime during queues, preparation time, death timers and walking back from spawn. Minimizing your aiming downtime can lead to accelerated improvements, and better performance in your games as you are warmed up and focused.

It can be beneficial to run through some KovaaK 2.0 scenarios while waiting for your queue to pop. In general, if you are trying to warm up before your game you may want to focus on scenarios like “Thin Gauntlet” and “Pressure Aiming 7 Targets” which do a great job of syncing up your hand-eye coordination and preparing you for both flicking and tracking.

If you are looking to fully optimize your downtime, there are some strategies you can employ during your game. When walking back from spawn or simply waiting around for action, pick an object, map geometry or a teammate to flick to or track. This primes your aiming for the next engagement, while also providing more opportunities at developing your aim than what a normal player would experience.

Aim training in KovaaK 2.0 has revolutionized the skill curve in FPS games. You no longer have to grind for thousands of hours to maybe develop some sick aiming skills. It works much like a gym does for building a body. The hyper-focused training environment allows players to develop their aim in the fastest, most optimized way possible

Aiming in a 20 minute Overwatch game is constantly interrupted with walks back from spawn, hero select and waiting around for teammates. This is inadequate for developing your aiming skills. 20 minutes of actively aiming at targets in KovaaK 2.0 can be worth days or even weeks of your normal gameplay.
